Denial
This phase is usually the first. Sometimes, if the event is very traumatic, the shock phase may precede it. Sometimes it's accompanied by phrases like "I still can't believe it's true," "I feel like I'm living a nightmare,"... other times, it's accompanied by attitudes of acting as if nothing is happening, or feigning excessive emotional composure.
It is important that you know from the first phase of the dueIt's not a linear process, you don't just go from one phase to another like a video game. You can move from one to the next, then go back, and then keep moving forward. Respect your time and your process.
